How to Get to Boracay Island

How to get to Boracay is the common question among travellers. Boracay is a very small island and it doesn’t have any airports, so you can only get here on the boat from the neighbouring Panay Island. There are two main means to get to Panay – by plane from Manila or Cebu or by ferry. The pump boats to Boracay leave every 5 min from Caticlan jetty port.

How to get to Boracay by plane

There are 3 airports in Panay Island: Caticlan (MPH), Kalibo (KLO), IloIlo (ILO). The best is to go to either Caticlan or Kalibo as IliIlo is located 6 hours bus ride away from Caticlan jetty port.

Caticlan: It’s located just 2 km away from Boracay, so it’s the most convenient landing point. The tickets are usually pricier than to Kalibo and will cost you about 100-200 doll one way from Manila. The drawback of this route is that you can only have 10 kg of baggage with you and cannot fly with sport equipment. Additinal baggage will have to be paid separately. You should know that the planes which fly to this airport are small propeller planes which gives great chance to see the island, but might be a bit scary for some people. From Caticlan airport you can either take tricycle to Caticlan jetty port or walk for 10 min.

Kalibo: This airport is located 1.5 hours van ride from Caticlan jetty port and it serves international flights. If you travel with a lot of luggage this airport is the best choice for you. The price ticket i usually is not as high as to Caticlan and can cost you less than 50 doll one way. From Kalibo you can either take private van for 1,500 PHP or catch the ride with one of many regular vans for 250 PHP including boat ride to Boracay.

Check out tickets online on one of the next websites: Cebu PacificPhilippines Airlines или Air Asia.
